"Introducing the Honda Elevate: The Perfect Urban SUV Redefining the Indian Car Market"
Honda has officially launched its latest SUV, the Elevate, in the Indian car market. The grand launch took place at a global event held in New Delhi. While the bookings for the Elevate will commence in July 2023, the deliveries are scheduled to begin during the upcoming festive season, as per the company's announcement.
Honda aims to position the new Elevate as the ultimate urban SUV that caters to the needs and aspirations of Indian car buyers. Additionally, Honda has revealed its plans to introduce an electric, battery-powered version of the Elevate within the next three years. Officials from Honda Cars India Limited (HCIL) were present at the event to discuss the development of the Honda Elevate. The company is hopeful that the Elevate will achieve high sales volumes, much like its entry-level sedan, the Honda Amaze.
The launch of the Elevate is highly anticipated as Honda has faced challenges in the Indian SUV market with models like the CR-V, BR-V, and WR-V. However, with the introduction of the Elevate, the company appears optimistic about its prospects. It is stepping into a segment dominated by strong competitors such as the Creta and Seltos.
A Game Changer in the Making?
Honda has not made a serious foray into the mid-size SUV market in India until now. In contrast, other brands like Hyundai, Kia, MG, Tata, Volkswagen, and Skoda have made significant progress and established a strong presence in this segment. The recent launches of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota's Hyryder have further intensified the competition. It remains to be seen whether the Elevate has what it takes to make a breakthrough in this fiercely competitive segment.
A Stylish Revelation in Design
The exterior of the Elevate showcases a typical SUV design with an upright stance. Honda has opted for a more conventional yet bold and stylish appearance for the Elevate, avoiding any outlandish styling choices. Honda officials describe the vehicle as a powerful and comfortable SUV. The Elevate will feature a single-pane sunroof, although rivals like the Creta, Grand Vitara, and Toyota Hyryder offer full-size panoramic sunroofs with their SUVs.
In terms of dimensions, the Elevate measures 4312 mm in length, indicating ample cabin space for passengers. What Lies Under the Hood of the Honda Elevate ?
Powering the Elevate is Honda's 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine, which generates 121hp and 145 Nm of torque. This engine is already used in the Honda City and is known for its refined performance and linear power delivery, which improves as the engine revs higher.Similar to the City, the Elevate will be available with manual and CVT transmission options. While the price of the Elevate has not been confirmed yet, considering its use of the Honda City platform and the same engine, it is expected to be priced similarly to the Honda City.
